With an increase in calcic plagioclase and mafic minerals the rock type becomes a diorite. The volcanic equivalent is the latite.〔 ==Etymology== Monzonite was originally named after the Monzoni range in Val di Fassa (Trento Province - Italy) where it is abundant.
