Moresco is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Fermo in the Italian region Marche, located about southeast of Ancona and about northeast of Ascoli Piceno in the valley named Valdaso. As of 2011, it had a population of 606 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 Moresco borders the following municipalities: Lapedona, Montefiore dell'Aso, Monterubbiano. ==The name== Moresco means literary "Moorish". According to legend, at the time of their raids along the Adriatic coast, a group of Moors went further into the interior in order to build a fortress in the heart of Christianity. Others, on the contrary, maintain that the Castrum Morisci was built near the sea to drive back the assaults of the Saracens.
