Mortha
Mortha is a village in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The king Tarakasena ruled the area in ancient days. Currently Mortha is playing a key role in the political aspects of nidadavole constituency (formerly it is in Tanuku constituency) and ramesh is the current sarpanch of the village. The village is on the banks of River Gosthani.
==History==
It is one of the ancient villages in India with more importance in the kingdom of Trakasura. The origin of the village name has a quite interesting facts in the history of India. In olden days there is a dog with huge structure which use to guard seven nearby villages. One day some thieves entered the village and served a poisonous food to the dog and made the dog into seven pieces which were thrown in seven different places. The "Mondem" of the dog remained in the village which has turned into rock in the same place, from which the village name "Mortha" origin. And the spot is now called as "Kukka Mondem" and is one of busiest center in the village. People of the village will worship this Devine rock (Mondem) for rains and proving the rock as a devine it rains heavily on the day.
