Močle
Močle is a village in the Municipality of Šmarje pri Jelšah in eastern Slovenia. It lies in the hills west of Šmarje. The area is part of the historical Lower Styria region. The municipality is now included in the Savinja statistical region.〔(Šmarje pri Jelšah municipal site )〕 It is a clustered village on the south side of a gentle slope. It includes the hamlets of Erpoge and Sveti Lovrenc.〔Savnik, Roman, ed. 1976. ''Krajevni leksikon Slovenije'', vol. 3. Ljubljana: Državna založba Slovenije, pp. 376–377.〕 ==Name== The name of the settlement was changed from ''Sveti Lovrenc pri Šmarju'' (literally, 'Saint Lawrence near Šmarje') to ''Močle'' in 1955. The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms.〔''Spremembe naselij 1948–95''. 1996. ''Etimološki slovar slovenskih zemljepisnih imen''. Ljubljana: Modrijan and Založba ZRC, pp. 265–266.〕 Before ''Močle'' became the name of the entire settlement, the name used to refer to one of the hamlets in the settlement.〔
