The idea is made possible by three existing technologies: wireless sensor networks, the Internet, and statistical analysis. The combination of these technologies shapes new horizons for a variety of industries and organizations and is combined in the Munisense service.〔(【引用サイトリンク】year = 2015 )〕 The service is made of three components: the back-office, the portal, and wireless sensor networks.〔(【引用サイトリンク】year = 2009 )〕 All the data is stored in the back-office and can be accessed by the user through the portal. The wireless sensor networks are the measurement and actuation networks on location. The platform is based on ZigBee of which Munisense is an active member.〔(【引用サイトリンク】year = 2009 )〕
