Murtaza
Murtaza (also spelled Mortaza or Morteza) ((ペルシア語:مرتضى), (アラビア語:مرتضى)) is a common Persian name, is a variant transcription of Murtadha, meaning ''"chosen"''.〔("Behind the name", ''The Etymology and History of First Names'' )〕 It is an Islamic name that dates back to the time of Islamic prophet Muhammad. Pronunciation varies with accent, from native Arabic speakers to speakers of European and Asian languages. A commonly held meaning of the name is ''"He who God is pleased with"''. Murtaza is also one of the titles of Imam Ali, one of Prophet Muhammad's closest companions, and the 4th Caliph of Islam.
Due to their rhyming nature, Murtaza is often confused with Mustafa which means ''"The Chosen One"'', an epithet of Islamic prophet Muhammad.〔("Behind the name", ''The Etymology and History of First Names'' )〕
