Mysafemedia
MySafeMEDIA is a web-hosting service featuring a template based website builder. The significance of the site is that it is one of the earliest examples of a self service website builder that was capable of instantly generating a dynamic website as opposed to a static one. Dynamic in this case, meaning that it featured automated administration and made available database reliant capabilities that were not typically available to the general public. During the 2008 time frame, features such as full multimedia support, media galleries, comments and ratings for media, basic e-Commerce integration, memberships, user management, mass-messaging, add-on widgets, automated notifications, multiple privacy levels and customize-able forms typically required seeking the services of a professional webmaster and or professional web developer. Also of significance is that the sites generated also compromise a type of Social Network wherein users (site owners) can communicate with each other once logged in to their individual sites. As of October 2015, MySafeMEDIA hosts over 8 thousand sites, serving user in over 180 countries with a monthly rate of over 50,000 unique visitors. The service is headquartered in Las Vegas. The site was founded by the iRadek Software company and provides similar services to the general public as Wix.com, Webs.com, WordPress.com, Squarespace.com, and other web-hosting and creation websites.
==History==
Originally slated to be a technology tester by its parent organization, MySafeMEDIA was uploaded to a public domain in mid 2008. The site was one of the first publicly available deployments of a service powered by The SoNET Web Engine which is a first generation Web Design Automation product that allows anyone to operate an instant website maker or Social Network, both on or offline (Intranet). The platform MySafeMEDIA uses is available via both the Microsoft Platform Installer and the Microsoft Azure Marketplace.
In or around June 2009, MySafeMEDIA ranked in the top 20 results for the keywords "create a free blog" and upon reaching the top 10 was then the victim of a DDos attack that resulted in it being moved from its original hosting provider to another and which also led its parent company to include automated countermeasures into the underlying platform the site uses. The attack was traced to a for hire firm outside of the U.S. that may have been hired to attack the site by one of the much larger organizations that commonly rank in the top results for those related search terms. This type of hired gun approach is now known to be an increasingly common competitive tactic and several firm usually based outside of the U.S. or U.K now freely advertise these types of services. The site has never fully recovered its ranking capability and no longer ranks in the top Google results. Today the site exist as a service and offers much of the features available from like services with premium features also available for a monthly or yearly fee.
