In avasarpani, as the cycle moves ahead, Kalpavriksha (wish fulfiling trees) starts declining. Then 14 patriarchs (''Kulakara'') teach people how to perform the worldly activities one by one. He taught the men how to cut the navel chord (nabhi). His queen was Marudevi. King Nabhi and his queen knew that they were going to give birth to the first Tirthankara before his birth because of the auspicious sixteen dreams of Tirthankara's mother. It was King Nabhi who explained those dreams to her.
