Neoscona
''Neoscona'' is a genus of spider in the family Araneidae (araneids) with a mostly pantropical distribution. One species, ''N. adianta'', has a palearctic distribution, and several species occur in North America. There is a characteristic longitudinal groove on the carapace which separates all species of'' Neoscona'' from species of ''Araneus''.〔(University of Arkansas Arthropod Museum )〕 ==Taxonomy== ''Neoscona'' was first separated from other araneids in the now obsolete genus ''Epeira'' by Eugène Simon in 1864, initially only as a group rather than a genus. The name ''Neoscona'' was derived from , ''spin'', and , ''reed'' or ''rush''.〔, (p. 261 )〕
