== History ==

NetSafe Inc. was founded as the Internet Safety Group in September 1998. It was incorporated as a society in April 2001 and changed its name to "NetSafe" in June 2008.
NetSafe has been New Zealand's primary cyber safety organisation for 17 years with educational and awareness raising campaigns being based on a range of research, theory and operational experience.
The organisation's expertise on cyberbullying and harmful digital communications further developed through doctoral research undertaken by Dr John Fenaughty〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://unidirectory.auckland.ac.nz/profile/j-fenaughty )〕 published as "''Challenging risk: NZ high-school students’ activity, challenge, distress, and resiliency, within cyberspace''".〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://researchspace.auckland.ac.nz/handle/2292/6775 )
The organisation has evolved to tackle all forms of online harm based on ''The Digital Challenge Model''.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.netsafe.org.nz/our-work/key-concepts/the-evolution-of-online-safety-from-cyber-safety-to-digital-challenge/ )
This model provides a basis for understanding the broad range of cyber safety, cyber security and cyber crime challenges confronting New Zealanders.
