Noctiferia

Noctiferia is Slovenian metal band. They started the extreme metal in Slovenia with their debut album, ''Baptism At Savica Fall'' (1998). They released the album, ''Per Aspera'', in 2003 for the American metal label Arctic Music Group. That resulted in touring Europe with bands like Malevolent Creation, Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, and Marduk. Their third album, ''Slovenska Morbida'' (2006), was mixed in the "Abbys Studio" in Sweden with extreme metal producer Peter Tägtgren, a member of Swedish groups Hypocrisy and Pain and producer of bands like Dimmu Borgir, Immortal. Their music often integrates other musical styles into a metal genre sound.
== Biography ==
Noctiferia is an extreme metal band from Ljubljana, Slovenia formed in 1996. Noctiferia was one of few metal bands from Slovenia and other parts of the Balkans at that time.
After their first demo in 1996 called ''Gods of Pocka'', the band made its first live performance on April 21, 1997 as the opening act at the Absu/Enslaved show in Ljubljana. Soon after that, band entered studio to record its full length debut album ''Baptism at Savica fall''. At that time, Noctiferia was one of few pagan black metal bands in Europe. The UK's Kerrang! magazine reviewed the album, giving it 4/5 points. During that time, the band performed numerous live shows and shared stage with names like Cannibal Corpse, Rotting Christ, Deicide, Dark Funeral, Marduk and Impaled Nazarene. Three years after their debut, the band entered the studio again to record second studio album.
The album ''Per Aspera'' was released in Slovenia in 2002 and worldwide in 2003 by Arctic Music Group. The band embarked on their first European tour with Marduk, Kataklysm, and Malevolent Creation in 2003. The video for their single, "Fond of Lies," was charted at No. 1 for 8 weeks on Slovenian national TV. In 2004, the band played at their first ever Metalcamp right after Danzig and made connections with their future partner, Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy/Pain).
In 2005, Noctiferia entered the studio once again to record their third album ''Slovenska Morbida''. It is their most experimental album to date, strongly influenced by etno music, electronics, and experimental sounds. The band flew to the Abyss studio in Sweden to mix the album with Peter Tagtgren. The album was promoted with several tours: a UK tour with Hypocrisy, a couple of shows with Cradle of Filth and Pain, two appearances at the Metalcamp's main stage, a co-headlined metal stage at Wave Gothic Treffen, a headlined metal stage at the Exit festival, opened for In Flames. ''Slovenska Morbida'' was re-released for GAS market by Danse Macabre in 2008 with 3 bonus tracks in German. The South-Eastern European tour with Samael and Keep of Kalessin in January 9 was the last under the mark of Slovenska Morbida.
The pre-production for the 4th album called ''Death Culture'' started in 2008. When the ideas were polished, the band entered DB studios and recorded the material. In order to get the maximum possible quality of the recording, Peter Tägtgren suggested to send it to the Black Lounge studio for the mastering, where Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry) finalized ''Death Culture''. In early 2010, Noctiferia signed a deal with Listenable Records who released ''Death Culture'' worldwide. The band has recorded a video for the single "Demoncracy", played several single shows, headlined at Metalcamp 2010, and toured with the bands Mayhem and Melechesh.
In October 2011 Noctiferia toured as exclusive support through Europe with Swedish metal giants In Flames. The tour lasted over 20 days and Noctiferia performed in front of more than 40.000 people on that tour.
In summer of 2012 the band performed at Bloodstock festival (UK) and later same year at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana at National Athlete of the year award ceremony which was broadcast live over national TV. For the first time in history an extreme metal band performed two songs live for the president of Slovenia and other VIPs of the country.
In early 2013 Noctiferia was featured in VICTORJI annual ceremony, Slovenian version of Grammy’s.
5th studio album entitled ''Pax'' will be released in Europe on 5 December 2014 via Cmm Gmbh.
Album was recorded at NegligenceStudio by Jan & Ruzz.
Mix and mastering were by Johan Örnborg & Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, Sweden known for their work with bands such as Paradise Lost, Kreator, At the Gates and Amon Amarth.
