Noonshade
''Noonshade'' is a fantasy novel by James Barclay. It was first published in the UK in 2000. This is the second book in the Chronicles of The Raven.
"An apocalyptic spell has been cast, an ancient evil banished. And now the land of Balaia, still riven with war, must live with the consequences. The spell has torn a rip in the sky, a pathway to the dragon dimension. As war sweeps the land, the legendary mercenary band The Raven must fight the invading Wesman hordes and the betrayals of those that should be friends And if they fail, Balaia wil fall beneath the wings of countless dragons..."
The book starts about half hour (book terms) after Dawnthief. == Plot ==
At the end of the last book Denser had cast dawnthief to destroy the Wytch Lords, and just to make sure they don't come back he opened a dimensional rip leading to nowhere. But unknowingly he had it opening into Sha-kaan's (the golden dragon in the last book) dimension. In this book the Raven have to close the dimensional rip hovering above Parve, which is growing. If they fail then the Khaan brood won't be able to hold the other, larger broods off.
