The municipality encompassed the central part of the island of Dønna as well as Vandve, Skorpa, and many surrounding islands. The municipality had 2 churches: Nordvik Church in the north and Hæstad Church in the south. ==History== On 1 July 1917, the northern part of the municipality of Herøy was separated from it to become the new municipality of Nordvik. Initially, Nordvik had a population of 1,530. On 1 January 1962, the municipality of Nordvik was merged with most of Dønnes and small parts of Nesna and Herøy to became the new municipality of Dønna.
