NovoEd
NovoEd is a for-profit educational technology company, founded by Stanford University professor Amin Saberi and PhD student Farnaz Ronaghi, that partners with universities, foundations, and corporations to offer massive open online courses (MOOCs) as well as small private online courses (SPOCS). Launched originally as Venture Lab, it rebranded to its present name in 2013. Like many other online learning platforms, students view lecture videos online as individuals, but NovoEd's unique selling point is that students can collaborate in small teams and submit assignments with classmates around the world. The company claims to have found success and higher completion rate with this focus on collaboration. Investors include Costanoa Venture Capital〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://costanoavc.com/assets/downloads/PRESSRELEASE_Occhiogrosso.pdf )〕 and Stanford University. == Courses == NovoEd has a mix of paid and free courses in a variety of topics, such as entrepreneurship, finance, business strategy, design and creativity, and humanities. In the beginning, NovoEd mainly offered courses from Stanford University, but in February 2014, the company announced 16 institutional partners, including Princeton University, University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In November 2014, Stanford University Graduate School of Business announced the launch of LEAD online certificate program on corporate innovation on NovoEd. This program involves 10 to 15 faculty members and is considered the school's most significant venture in the online realm.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Stanford Bets Big on Virtual Education )〕
