Nykaa.com was founded by Falguni Nayar, the former managing Director Of Kotak Mahindra Capital Company. The word Nykaa is derived from the Sanskrit word “Nayaka” that means actress or one in the spotlight. Nykaa’s first sale was on October 24, 2012 on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. The first two products sold by them were ''L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Intense Lipstick (Burning Rose), and Maybelline New York Express Finish Nail Color Rose in Pearly Pink''.
