OUTtv is a Dutch television channel which can be viewed via cable television/digital television as premium channel in the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden. OUTtv was launched on April 2, 2008 bij KPN and has also been available with other cable companies since April 11, 2008. By now OUTtv can be viewed in the Netherlands via Ziggo, UPC, KPN (interactive television), Caiway, Delta and Glashart. In Belgium the channel can be viewed via Telenet and in Sweden via Com Hem. OUTtv started out as a collaboration with OUTtv Canada, the first worldwide 24-hour LGBT television channel, whereby the brand and many of the programmes were licensed.〔(OUTtv Signs Licensing Deal to Create the Netherlands` First Gay Lifestyle Television Network ); Echelon Magazine, 2008-04-24〕 By now, most of the programmes of the Canadian OUTtv are no longer shown on the Dutch channel. OUTtv is a lifestyle- and entertainment – channel which offers a broad range of programmes, such as drama, comedy, talk shows, documentaries and films, which are mostly targeted towards gay people. Even though OUTtv is a premium channel and an extra payment is required, advertisements are being shown, however, not in between, but only before and after programmes. ==Series and films== OUTtv differentiates itself with a varied programming of quality shows and qualitative art-house films. For example, the Golden Globes and Emmy Awarded series Six Feet Under, the successful Irish drama series RAW and the controversial Queer as Folk (United States) are shown. But also enough entertainment; the lifestyle channel offers you renowned comedy shows such as Little Britain, Absolutely Fabulous and Golden Girls. OUTtv also broadcasts their own productions, such as OUTtv News with a round-up of the most important news, OUTtv reports with a weekly in-depth interview about current affairs and Travel Experience, a travel show with host Ian van der Putten. Before OUTtv also made specials around several gay prides and the Eurovision Song Contest.
