Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. At the end of World War II 62 inhabitants of the village committed suicide.〔Florian Huber: "Kind, versprich mir, dass du dich erschießt", Berlin Verlag 2015, p. 93〕 The region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement.
