In Greek mythology, an Oread or (, ''Oreades'', from ὄρος, "mountain") or Orestiad or (Όρεστιάδες, ''Orestiades'') was a type of nymph that lived in mountains, valleys, and ravines. They differ from each other according to their dwelling: the Idaeae were from Mount Ida, Peliades from Mount Pelion, etc. They were associated with Artemis, since the goddess, when she went out hunting, preferred mountains and rocky precipices. ==Oreads== The number of Oreads includes but is not limited to: * Britomartis * Claea (Mount Calathion, Messenia)〔Pausanias, ''Description of Greece'' 3.26.11〕 * Cyllene or Kyllene (Mount Cyllene)〔''Bibliotheca'' 3.8.1〕 * Daphnis (Mount Parnassos)〔Pausanias, ''Description of Greece'' 10.5.5〕 * Echo (Mount Cithaeron)〔Aristophanes, ''Thesmophoriazusae'' 970〕 * The Idaeae (Mount Ida, Crete):〔''Bibliotheca'' 1.4.5〕〔Hyginus, ''Astronomica'', 2.2〕 * * Adrasteia * * Cynosura * * Helike * * Ida * Nomia (Mount Nomia, Arcadia)〔Pausanias, ''Description of Greece'' 8.38.0〕 * Othreis (Mount Othrys, Malis)〔Antoninus Liberalis, ''Metamorphoses'' 13〕 * Sinoe (Mount Sinoe, Arcadia)〔Pausanias, ''Description of Greece'' 8.30.2〕 * The Sphragitides 〔Plutarch, ''Life of Aristides'' 11. 3〕 or Cithaeronides (Mount Cithaeron)〔Pausanias, ''Description of Greece'' 9.3.9〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Oread」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
