''OutWrite'' is University of California, Los Angeles' lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, (LGBT) intersex, queer, pan-sexual, fluid, and ally newsmagazine. ''OutWrite'', formerly called ''TenPercent'', was established in 1979 and was the first LGBT collegiate newsmagazine in the nation.〔OutWrite Official Website, About Page http://outwritenewsmag.org/about/〕 ''OutWrite'' provides coverage of political and social issues and events that occur in the LGBT community at UCLA and beyond. ''OutWrite'' was started by Clay Doyle, a UCLA student. The original name, ''TenPercent'', was inspired by the research study Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (Alfred Kinsey, 1948), which found that 10% of males were predominantly homosexual.〔UCLA Spotlight, "Ten Percent Newsmagazine" http://spotlight.ucla.edu/programs/tenpercent/〕 The name was later changed to ''OutWrite'' through a staff petition in 2005, claiming that the title was connected to a legacy of white, gay-male-centricity within the magazine.〔Professor Profiles: Sondra Hale http://www.uclaprofs.com/profs/hale.html〕 ''OutWrite'' is one of UCLA Student Media's seven student-run newsmagazines on UCLA's campus. == ''OutWrite'' issues == *Winter 2009: "Proposition 8: Where Do We Go From Here?"
