PEPY (Promoting Education, emPowering Youth) is a Cambodia-based education and youth-leadership non-governmental organization (NGO). The organization’s vision is a future where all young Cambodians are empowered to achieve their dreams. PEPY invests time and resources in young people in Cambodia, working with them to connect them to the skills, systems, and inspiration necessary to achieve their goals, raise standards of living, and improve the quality of education in their communities.〔http://pepycambodia.org/about-us/1959-2/〕 PEPY was founded in 2005 and has its headquarters in Siem Reap, with satellite offices in the project focus area in Kralanh District. == History == The idea for PEPY began in 2004, when Daniela Papi and Greta Arnquist began planning a cycling adventure across Cambodia to learn and contribute to education programs in the region. A team of four friends joined them and “The PEPY Ride” (at the time, standing for Protect the Earth, Protect Yourself) took shape. The team raised funds for the construction of The PEPY Ride School in the rural community of Chanleas Dai, Cambodia, which opened on December 31, 2005. On visiting Cambodia a few months before the bike ride to plan the trip, it was soon discovered that the school that had been built to supposedly support over 500 students was standing nearly empty, with only a couple of regular teachers. The team realized that schools don’t teach students, people do, and if they wanted the money they had fundraised to support the development of education in Cambodia, then they needed to invest in people. Since then, PEPY’s programs have expanded to include youth leadership and supplementary education. After strategic planning sessions in August 2011, the PEPY team solidified plans for a new direction, and decided it was time to create a more appropriate acronym. PEPY now stands for: Promoting Education, emPowering Youth. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「PEPY」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
