Padianallur is a census town in northern suburb of Chennai, Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is 19 km from Chennai Central on the National Highway No.5. The nearest town is Redhills. Padianallur, Mondiamman Nagar, P.T Moorthy Nagar, Mahalakshmi Nagar,Jothy Nagar, Bavani Nagar are the main residential areas. Metro BUS depot is in the Town which connected various places in the Chennai City through BUS. Redhills Lake is at the southern end of the Village and Krishna Baby Canal is in the western side. The famous Muniswarar Angala Esawari Temple where a grand 12 day festival in the Tamil Month of Panguni (March-April) celebrated every year with more than 5000 people doing fire walk on the auspicious day of Panguni Uthiram. The temple is founded and constructed by the people repatriate from Burma(Myanmar) beginning from the year 1964 settled in the area. Most of them are Thevar community people. Mondiamman Temple, Thiruneetriswarar Temple, Murugan Temple, Mosques, Churches and Buddha temple are in the Town. Many private Educational institutions and Government Higher Secondary School,Private as well as Government Health Centers,Marriage Halls are in the Town. The Sholavaram Air Strip once famous for the Madras Car Race is one kilometer away on the western side. Now it is mostly use for small Air Craft Training, Learning 2/4 wheeler driving & Cinema Shootings of Adventures scenes. ==Demographics== India census, Padianallur had a population of 20,863. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Padianallur has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 70%.
