PagSeguro is a Brazilian-based national e-commerce business that allows payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. The service launched in July 2007 based on the payment service BRPay, acquired in January 2007 by Universo Online, a web content, products and services Brazilian firm.〔(Pagseguro )〕 ==History== UOL purchased BrPay, a Brazilian electronic payment company firm in January 2007. In following July, UOL changed the firm’s name to PagSeguro. In November 2008 PagSeguro was appointed the best website in the e-commerce category by readers of Info Exame magazine. In 2010, PagSeguro had already more than 12 million registered users. After two years, in 2012, a partnership was launched with Horus, an online fraud prevention firm in order to guarantee the safety of its transactions. In the same year, PagSeguro launched a partnership with Nokia to process payments via Near Field Communication (NFC), a technology that safely enables date transmission through the approximation of two mobile telephones. PagSeguro was the first firm to implement NFC technology in Brazil. In 2013, PagSeguro launched an online credit reader for receiving payments via mobile apps. In the same year PagSeguro launched partnerships with Cartão Mais. and iPAGARE Magento. Retailers that own a Magento store with iPagare technology may use PagSeguro when checking out.〔 In 2013, PagSeguro obtained the PCI-DSS (Padrão de Segurança de Dados para a Indústria de Cartões de Pagamento) certification and also released Envio Fácil, a freight service with discounts for retailers in shipping with no weight limit in all of Brazil. Envio Fácil also tracks packages via PagSeguro’s website.
