Palanzano is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Parma in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about west of Bologna and about south of Parma. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,331 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 The municipality of Palanzano contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Caneto, Isola, Lalatta, Nirone, Pratopiano, Ranzano, Ruzzano, Selvanizza, Trevignano, Vaestano, Vairo Inferiore, Valcieca, and Zibana.
