Panchavatee is a Panchamukha Hanuman Temple located 9 km from Pondicherry, India. The main deity is 36 feet high making it one of the tallest Hanuman idols. The temple is run by Pamchamukha Sri Jayamurthi Seva Trust, consisting of staunch devotees like Parama Sri Ramani Anna. The temple land was donated by Mr. Santhanam Iyengar. Route From Pondicherry Starting from Rajiv Gandhi Circle, move towards JIPMER. After crossing the JIPMER Hospital and the Gateway marking the start of Pondicherry, cross the checkpost and move on the NH 66. After the toll gate there is a junction with the road turning right towards Auroville, the NH 66 moving straight ahead and a left turn towards Thiruchittrambalam (TC Koot Road). Take the TC Koot Road and move until you cross the Thiruchittrambalam Junction. The Panchavatee Hanuman Temple comes to the right side after about 1.5 km from the TC Junction towards Tindivanam. The devotee is given an amulet which serves to protect him at the same time reminds him to visit the Lord every Saturday for five Saturdays and meditate upon the mantras, "RAM-RAM-RAM" or "SRI-RAM-JAYARAM-JAYA-JAYA-RAM" 108 times. On the 6th Saturday, when the devotee has finished his mediatation upon the Lord's name - the amulet can be removed and placed at a said location. On days when the devotee is unable to come, he may go to a nearby Hanuman Temple and perform the name-meditation. But he has to visit the same temple on the 6th Saturday. The completion of this penance is said to give to the devotee what he has asked for from the Lord.
