(Schweppes Australia was acquired by Asahi in 2009.) Passiona seems to have been first described in an address to the Mullumbimby Chamber of Commerce by Spencer Cottee of Lismore, New South Wales in 1925,〔'Passion Fruit Culture', The Brisbane Courier newspaper, 17th September 1925〕 and marketed to the public in 1927〔'A New Beverage. Advent of Passiona', the Brisbane Courier newspaper, 21st January 1927〕 The Passiona trademark has also been used by Cottees in their jelly crystal range, and originally by long defunct softdrink manufacturer, Geo.
