Pasuvanthanai or Passuvandanai (Tamil : பசுவந்தனை) is a panchayat village in Ottapidaram Taluk in Thoothukudi district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. In center of the village lies the Arulmighu Sri Kailasanathasamy Thirukovil dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Sculptures present all over the temple adds beauty to the temple and the main temple itself dates back to 13th Century and epigraph's present in the temple walls, adds curiosity to the history readers. The temple and its pond with flight of steps and mandapam in middle of the pond adds aesthetic touch to the village. The legend goes by the way that, a cow moved away from its herd, and everyday it worshiped a lingam under vilvam tree by offering its milk, getting suspicious about the cow's behavior, king ordered to check under the vilvam tree and villagers dug the place and to their surprise they found a siva statue in lingam form, who is now the presiding deity in the temple and hence the name for the village. The annual Chitirai festival, which falls during the tamil month of Chithirai (mid April to mid May) draws people from in and around the district. The annual festival of Arulmigu Sri Pathirakali Amman temple draws the villagers who have migrated to distant cities like chennai, madurai for work. ==Geography== Passuvandanai is 35 km from the district headquarters Thoothukudi. It lies 10km east of Kadambur on the Madurai-Nellai railway line, 22 km east of Kayathar off the North-South Corridor, 11 km west of Eppothum Vendram on the Madurai-thoothukudi National Highway. Nearest Towns are Kayathar (22.2 km.), Thoothukkudi (35 km.), Kovilpatti (25 km.), Madurai (120 km.).
