The term Pateliya is derived from the word Police Patel, whose ruled in village or which means a headman. They are found mainly in the districts of Kota, Jhalawar and Banswara. The community said originate in Dahod, Lunawada DIstricts of Gujarat and Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ujjain, Guna District Of Madhya Pradesh.
