Pattambi is a big town and Municipality at the western end of the Palakkad district of the state of Kerala, South India.〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=Ministry of Panchayati Raj )〕 It is also the headquarters of the Taluk of the same name. Situated on the banks of the Bharathappuzha river (also called the Nila or Perar), it has a rich cultural heritage and has played host to many historic events. Once under Nedunganad Samanthas of Chera Kings. Later on Samoothiri Raja (Zamorin of Calicut) annexed this place to his country and kept under the control of Eralpad Raja, the second Raja of Calicut. It is a junction that connects roads from Ottapalam, Perumbilavu and Perinthalmanna. Malayalam is official language. Hindi and Tamil are in use among the migrants from other states.
