This place is one of the historic ports of Eastern (Gulf of Mannar) from 21 km distance of Ramanathapuram where Ibn Battuta, Marcopolo and other famous travellers visited. Menzies. )〕 Now, it is called Periyapattinam, where thousands of Muslims live.
