Pierronne Pierronne, also known as Pierrone, Pierronne la Bretonne and Perrinaïc, was a 15th-century Breton woman who said she saw visions of "God dressed in a long white robe with a red tunic underneath".〔Jules Quicherat, "Procès de Condamnation et de Réhabilitation de Jeanne d'Arc", Vol. IV, p. 467.〕 Pierronne, who may have met Joan of Arc in 1429,〔Henri Daniel-Lacombe, "L'hote de Jeanne d'Arc à Poitiers: Maître Jean Rabateau," p. 328.〕 tried to defend her reputation at Corbeil. For this, Pierronne was arrested in March 1430〔Henri Daniel-Lacombe, "L'hote de Jeanne d'Arc à Poitiers: Maître Jean Rabateau", p. 333.〕 and burned at the stake on 3 September 1430.〔Anatole France, "The Life of Joan of Arc," Vol II, pp. 186–187.〕 == Origins == Pierronne was said to have come from western Brittany ("Bretagne bretonnante"),〔J. Trevedy, "Le Roman de Perrinaïc" in "Revue de Bretagne de Vendée & d'Anjou," Vol. 11, p. 26.〕 but her exact date and place of birth are unknown. The variant name "Perrinaïc" is an attempt to render the French name Pierronne/Perrine into Breton with the affectionate suffix -ic.〔J. Loth, "Le nom de Perrinaïc," in "Annales de Bretagne," Vol. 9, p. 429.〕
