Pioltello is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about northeast of Milan. As of 30 April 2012, it had a population of 37,086 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 The municipality of Pioltello contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Limito, Seggiano, and Rugacesio. Pioltello borders the following municipalities: Cernusco sul Naviglio, Vimodrone, Segrate, Rodano, Peschiera Borromeo, Vignate. Pioltello received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on November 19, 1999.
