Piraino (Sicilian: ''Piràinu'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about east of Palermo and about west of Messina. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,857 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 The municipality of Piraino contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Calanovella, Fiumara, Gliaca, Lacco, Leomandri, Merca, S.Arcangelo, S.Biagio, S.Costantino, S.Ignazio, S.Leonardo, Salinà, and Zappardino.
