Pogla is mentioned by Ptolemy,〔V, 5.〕 and possibly by Hierocles,〔''Synecdemus'', 689, 4.〕 where he speaks of a town called Socla (Σώκλα) in Pamphylia,〔Sophrone Pétridès, "Pogla" in ''Catholic Encyclopedia'' (New York 1911)〕 perhaps a manuscript corruption.〔(John Anthony Cramer, A Geographical and Historical Description of Asia Minor (Oxford University Press 1832), vol. 2, p. 298 )〕 The modern name for the town is Fugla〔〔 Coins of Pogla of the 2nd and 3rd centuries are extant, bearing on the reverse images of emperors and on the reverse divinities such as Artemis, of with the inscription ΠΟΓΛΕΩΝ (of the Pogleans).〔(Gallery of coins of Pogla )〕
