Purbiya

The Purbiya Rajput is a member of one of the patrilineal clans of eastern India.

==Purbiya tribes==
Purbiya was a common term given to all Kshatriyas of Awadh, Bhojpur and Purvanchal who served as mercenaries for the Rajputs of West and North. Most Purbiya's were mercenaries and were paid for their services, but some were actual kings of smaller principalities.〔Journal of Indian history, Volume 66, Dept. of History, University of Kerala, 1988〕
