Puthanampatti – Once upon a time, this place was called "Punathai".

In 1967 the ex chief minister opened the arts and science college for the rural and it is famous in all over world. now this village has TNEB OFFICE , TNEB SUB POWER STATION , TELEPHONE EXCHANGE , SUB POST OFFICE , VETERINARY HOSPITAL AND LAZON COMPANY. This village has good bus facility from Trichy head quarters and near town Thuraiyur. Town Buses operate daily from trichy like 27c , 36,36B, 36D, 42A, 9B and moufissil buses namely SRI BALAJI , VIGNESH, SRI MURUGAVILAS. From thuraiyur the ancient town bus now called the name of Kamatchiyamman route no4 and town buses 4,7,9 and mini buses namely PALANIMALAI MURUGAN ,BALAGURUNATHAN.
