Sony launched a new streaming service, PlayStation Music, in partnership with Spotify in early 2015, and Music Unlimited was closed down in favour of the new service on March 29, 2015.

It launched in the United States in early January 2011, and in France, Italy, Germany and Spain in late January 2011. It launched in Australia and New Zealand in February 2011.
