It provides free access to delayed worldwide quotes, charts and financial news covering major markets and more than 50 exchanges, including NYSE, NASDAQ, the London Stock Exchange and the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

In 1999, Quote.com became part of the Lycos Network when Lycos, Inc. acquired the company for $78.3 million in stock.
