RJMARKS
RJMARKS are an indie-pop rock band from Nottingham, and have been 'tipped to be the next big thing' in a recent interview. Their music can be described as uplifting, positive and heavily focuses on Richard's vocals and self-progressive songwriting style. The band consists of singer-songwriter and guitarist Richard Howell, Jake Buckley (lead guitar), Dicky Fountain (bass), Paul 'PK' King (drums), and Paul 'Stav' Mylonas (keys). Their first single 'Calling Out' was released in October 2014. 'Calling Out' was written and produced by Richard Howell and James Littlehales. It was noted for its 'obvious signs of great song writing' and that 'Howell provides a heartfelt honesty to his lyrics'.
== History ==
The band was formed in late 2013/early 2014 by Richard Howell. Richard has been playing gigs around Nottingham since he was eighteen, which led to the creation of his first band 'The Limits' in 2008. During this time, The Limits released the 'Peartree EP' and embarked on a mini tour, including venues in Belgium. After disbanding The Limits, Richard focused on solo work and played numerous times with Jake Bugg, supporting each other at a number of different gigs. When Richard started the RJMARKS project, he approached Jake and Dicky who, at the time, were in another Nottingham-based band called The Money. Following a number of successful recording sessions and rehearsals, Richard decided that this would be the foundation of RJMARKS to take forward. Since then, Richard has recruited Paul and Stav to make the band what they are today. After a period of radio plays on varying stations, RJMARKS were invited to play live on BBC Introducing in May 2014, where they performed 'Lullaby'.
Summer 2014 saw them playing their first shows and taking in slots at various festivals and venues around Nottingham. Following playing at The Hockley Hustle in October, RJMARKS embarked on a small UK tour in the Winter.
RJMARKS have been selected to play this year's Splendour Festival, an annual music festival in Nottingham. They will be playing on the 'Acoustic Rooms' stage.
