Raketa : ウィキペディア英語版
Raketa

Raketa (, "rocket") watches, sometimes marketed as Sekonda, have been manufactured since 1961 by the Petrodvorets Watch Factory in Saint Petersburg. The Petrodvorets Watch Factory is Russia's oldest factory and was founded by Peter the Great in 1721. Raketa watches were produced for the Red Army, the Soviet Navy, for North Pole expeditions, as well as for civilians. As of today Raketa is one of the rare watch brands in the world producing its mouvements from A to Z.〔http://www.liberation.fr/monde/2015/02/06/raketa-joue-a-la-rolex-russe_1197170〕〔http://www.raketa.com/uzel-balansa/〕〔http://montres.lepoint.fr/magazine/raketa-le-comte-est-bon-19-10-2013-1745673_830.php〕〔http://www.themoscowtimes.com/article/502096.html〕〔http://www.europastar.com/magazine/features/1004086335-solid-foundations-at-the-base-of-the-watchmaking.html?artpage=7-7&zoom_highlight=Raketa〕
==The origin of the brand==
April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin made the first flight in the history of mankind in outer space on the rocket Vostok 1. In honor of Yuri Gagarin the Petrodvorets Watch Factory named its watches "rocket", or "Raketa" in Russian. At the height of the Cold War, however, the name "Raketa" was perceived negatively in the West, as the word was associated with the latest generation of Soviet intercontinental ballistic missiles, the R-16. During Soviet times it became one of the most produced watch brand in the world. in the 70's the factory produced about 5 million mechanical watches per year.〔http://www.coolbrandspeople.com/stories/meeting-jacques-graf-von-polier-the-man-behind-the-revived-raketa-watches/〕〔http://in.reuters.com/article/2011/11/04/idINIndia-60331520111104〕
