Rourkela
Rourkela ((オリヤー語:ରାଉରକେଲା)) is a city located in the northern border of the Indian state of Odisha, also known as Orissa. It is situated about north of state capital Bhubaneswar, and is surrounded by a range of hills and encircled by rivers. The city is also popularly known as ''Ispat Nagar'' and also as the ''Steel City of Odisha''. It has one of the largest steel plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited ''(SAIL)'' known as Rourkela Steel Plant. It also has one of the National Institutes of Technology ''(NIT Rourkela)'' of the country. ==Name== The name ''Rour kela'' originates from the word Ruhr (German pronunciation: (), German: ''Ruhrgebiet''), or the Ruhr district, Ruhr region or Ruhr valley, is an urban area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Ideally the name is Ruhr-kella which is Ruhr +Kella . Kella means Fort in Hindi or Bengali since the city is surrounded by mountains . It was the Germans who built the Rourkela Steel Plant & hence the word "Ruhr " originates from " Ruhr from Germany " . In the local tribal language of Sadri means "Our Village".
