Rettakudi Rettakudi is a village in Nannilam taluk, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located approximately from Poonthottam in the Cauvery Delta. ==Etymology== Rettakudy derives its name from the legend of Lord Siva and Arjuna in the Mahabaratha: in a fit of anger, Arjuna struck the head of Siva and split it in two (''retta'' meaning "two" in the Tamil language). The village is named in recognition of this legend. Today, one can see the head of the Sivalinga in broken form.
