Rosside
Rosside is a small village in Cumbria, UK, on the outskirts of Ulverston. The village consists of around 15 houses, all contained in an area of around . Rosside is part of the Ulverston parish, as are the neighbouring villages of Pennington, Swarthmoor and Loppergarth. == Geography == From Rosside there are views across Morecambe Bay, and the village is in close proximity to the Hoad Monument, Chapel Island, Ulverston, Swarthmoor and Barrow-in-Furness. Rosside is loosely split into two areas, 'Little' (La'al) Rosside and 'Great' Rosside. These two groups of buildings are split by the stream running through the village, which is fed by the Barton reservoir at the Spade Forge. The stream has been the topic of heated debate between the Rosside Village Community Association (RVCA) and Ulveston town council after the localised flooding of 2010, which left 6 houses lower levels flooded costing a reported £4000 in damage. The group had been campaigning for small scale hard flood defenses to be erected around the entire village, however Ulverston town council concluded that money would be better spent in the more 'at risk' areas on the Ulverston canal hit by flooding the previous year in 2009. The village is situated around the 'Atop-Ulverston Drainage Basin', which has formed around the Pennington Reservoir
