Ruaidrí (also Ruairi, Ruairidh, Ruaidhri, Ruairdhri, Rhuairidh, Ruaridh, Rhuaridh, Ruarídh, Ruari, Ruairí, Roighrí or Raighrí) is a Goidelic (Irish and Scottish Gaelic) masculine given name. It translates as "red-haired king" rua() ''red-coloured hair of people, foxes, etc.'', rí() ''king''. Its Gaelic pronunciation is /'ruərʲi:/, and in Munster Irish /rəi'rʲi:/. In English, it is typically pronounced as Rory /rɔːri/ or Roo-ry /ru:ri/. In Classical Irish/Gaelic, the name was written Ruaidhrigh, and in Old Gaelic Ruaidrí /ruaðʲr͈ʲiː/ (Proto Celtic *roudo-riks). Historically, it has also been anglicized by replacement with the Germanic cognate Roderick, of similar meaning (red-haired leader) (e.g. Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair anglicised ''Roderic O'Connor''). Its equivalent in the Welsh language is Rhodri, also meaning red-haired king. ==People with this name== *Ruaidrí mac Fáeláin (died 785), King of Leinster of the Uí Fáeláin sept of the Uí Dúnlainge branch of the Laigin *Ruaidrí ua Canannáin (died 950), king of the Cenél Conaill, and according to some sources High King of Ireland *Findláech mac Ruaidrí (died 1020), Mormaer of Moray (Scotland); father of Macbeth. *Ruaidrí na Saide Buide (died 1118), called Ruaidrí na Saide Buide (Ruaidrí of the Yellow Birch), King of Connacht *Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair, 12th century King of Connacht and the last High King of Ireland *Aedh mac Ruaidri Ua Conchobair, King of Connacht from 1228 to 1233 *Ruaidri mac Cathal Ua Conchobair, King of Connacht in Ireland *Ruaidri mac Tairdelbach Ua Conchobair, King of Connacht, died 1384 *Ruaidri Caech mac Diarmata (1404–1421), see Kings of Magh Luirg *Ruaidrí mac Donnchad Ó Dálaigh (died 1469) *Ruaidri Óg mac Diarmata (1478–1486), see Kings of Magh Luirg *Ruaidri mac Diarmata (1549–1568), see Kings of Magh Luirg *Ruaidhrí Ó Flaithbheartaigh (died 1716/18) *Ruairí Mac Easmainn (1864–1916), Irish patriot, poet, revolutionary and nationalist *Ruairidh Erskine (1869–1960), Scottish nationalist *Ruairí Brugha (1917–2006), Clann na Poblachta politician *Ruairí Ó Brádaigh (1932–2013), Irish Republican Army member *Ruairi Quinn (born 1946), Irish Labour Party politician *Ruairí Robinson (born 1978), Academy Award-nominated Irish film director and writer *Ruaridh Jackson (born 1988), Glasgow Warriors out half *Ruairi McKiernan (born 1977), Irish social activist 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Ruaidrí」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
