There are authorised votes of approximately 1100. Another very small village named Jamaal Majra is also under the control of Salehpur panchayat. Currently its Sarpanch is Sh. Sharma who took charge in June 2010. Late Sh. Sadhu Ram Saini continuously remained sarpanch of the village for a period which spanned well over 4 decades (almost prior to a time when Panchayati Raj started in the state). The livelihood of people here depends on agriculture and some other small occupations. Most inhabitants belong to saini cast, but dalit, rajput, sikh, gadariya (shepherd community) and few others are also numerable. It falls under the Mullana Constituency whom Sh. Rajbir Singh represents in Vidhaan Sabha. It is well connected with Highway no. 73 (Ambala to Jagadhri) from south side and Highway from Nahan to New Delhi from north side.
