It is a complex of hills (peacock hills) and is approximately 8 km from Bellary in Karnataka]. The first settlers who established the village traded ''stone tools'' among the Neolithic people. By around 2000 BC, this region was the largest stone tool producing centre in South India. By 1500 BC, cemeteries were created to bury the dead.
