Sankaraguptam () is a village in Malikipuram mandal of East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located in the delta region of Godavari known as Konaseema. The village has rich scenic beauty. Coconut, paddy, and casuarina are major crops grown. Renowned Carnatic Vocalist Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna was born in this village. ==Etymology== The name is said to be derived when Sankara hid here to protect himself from Bhasmasura who was blessed with boon by Lord Sankara that the head on which he places his palm would be burnt into ashes). Sankara refers to Lord Siva and guptam is a secret, the place where Lord Shiva hid to protect himself from Bhasmasura. It is said that despite a considerable amount of Smartha Brahmin population Sivalaya (Temple for Siva) is not present in the village.
