Santhià ((:sanˈtja *); or ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Vercelli in the Italian region Piedmont, located about northeast of Turin and about northwest of Vercelli. Santhià is well known for its historic carnival named the ''Carnevale Storico di Santhià'' since the 14th century. The medieval castle of Vettigné, located within the communal territory, was built (perhaps over a pre-existing structure) in the 15th century. Ugo Nespolo, notable Piedmontese artist, was made an honorary citizen of Santhià on Saturday 31 March 2012. ==Main sights== *Castle of Vettigné, built starting from the 15th century. *Romanesque-Neoclassic collegiate church of Sant'Agata, built from the 11th century.
