Sarazm

Sarazm is an ancient town and also a jamoat in north-western Tajikistan. It dates back to the 4th millennium BCE and is today a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is located in Panjakent District in Sughd province.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=List of Jamoats )
The archaeological site of the ancient city of Sarazm is located near Durman, a town situated in the Zarafshan Valley of north-west Tajikistan in the Sughd province near the border with Uzbekistan.
==Site description==
The site indicates an early steppe presence in the Zarafshan Valley. Around 3000 BC, it was the largest exporting metallurgical center of Central Asia. It was (abandoned ) after the arrival of the Andronovo settlers, around 2000 BC.
The city is believed to have been revived as a mining point to collect from nearby sources of turquoise.〔Anthony, D.W. (2008) p 419〕 Established no later that 1500 BC, the city also served as an important regional agricultural and copper production center.〔Anthony, D.W. (2008) p 419〕
The town was discovered in 1976 by a local farmer named Ashurali Tailonov who found a copper dagger protruding from a nearby construction site.〔(Central Asian river | PRI's The World )〕 It was excavated by Abdullo Isakov and French archaeologists beginning in 1977.
