Savushun ''Savušun'' ((ペルシア語:سووشون)) is a Persian novel by Iranian female writer Simin Daneshvar. The story is about the life of a family in Shiraz faced to the occupation of Iran during World War II. ''Savušun'' has sold over five hundred thousand copies in Iran. Being translated to English and 16 other languages,〔http://www.bbc.co.uk/persian/mobile/arts/2012/03/120308_l41_simin_daneshvar_obituary.shtml〕 this modern novel has been highly acclaimed in magazines and press such as ''USA Today'' and ''Kirkus Reviews''. Daneshvar's strong knowledge and creative imagination have made ''Savušun'' one of the most influential modern works written in Persian. Daneshvar has used folklore and myth in writing ''Savušun''. Linguistically, ''savušun'' is a corruption of ''Siyâvašun'', which refers to the traditional mourning for Siyâvaš, a hero in the ''Šâhnâme''. ==See also==
