The scarab beetle subfamily Scarabaeinae consists of species collectively called true dung beetles. Most of the beetles of this subfamily feed exclusively on dung. Well-known members include the genera ''Scarabaeus'' and ''Sisyphus'', and ''Phanaeus vindex''.
